Ali + Dave’s Southern Destination Soiree| Keswick Hall, Charlottesville VA

Ali + Dave both hail from New York. She is a dancer, he is an adventurer – and as his mother’s speech spoke of his treks around the world, she concluded, “we are so happy he returned home to New York and found Ali”. The love and support from family and friends was evident, as every one of them traveled from afar to attend their destination wedding at Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, VA.  In fact, as one of her former school teachers pointed out to me, Ali and her schoolmates  attended school together from the very beginning to graduation. And every single one of those girls was in attendance, traveling from wherever life has taken them since graduation. That spoke volumes to me about just how adored Ali and her soon-to be-hubby were.  They think the world of their family and friends as well.  Being from New York but now currently living in North Carolina, Ali and Dave wanted to give their guests the ultimate southern experience, choosing a destination wedding at Keswick Hall. Prefectly placed at the foothills of the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by so much history, landmarks and presidential homes., the mansion estate is a small resort – a hidden treasure. To complete the aesthetic, Ali and Dave choose a southern themed rehearsal, complete with bluegrass band, poolside dinner with all the fixin’s. We are talkin’  southern staples: local wine + brews, sweet tea, bbq, fried green tomatoes, brunswick stew, fried chicken, biscuits, blackberry cobbler). It was the perfect mix of classy elegance and laid back southern charm.

Although I didn’t photograph the wedding, I thought about them all day during the torrential downpour. I just knew that the awesome staff of Keswick Hall, and the phenomenal Jodi Miller Photography would work magic and take extra good care of them. I also knew that despite the rain, their excitement for the day and love for one another would trump any storm.  Congrats Ali + Dave!

Becca - All hail Sarah Goodwin, Queen of Details. I’m in love with the shot of the bride laughing on the bench.
