Is it seriously April already? Whew lawd. Well I must say it kicked off to a good start this weekend…

I finally got my pretty friend Sam and her daughter Ally in front of my camera for a girls photo day. These ladies are just as gorgeous on the inside as they are out. Can’t wait to share those with you later this week.

Spending a quiet Easter Sunday with family & friends was such a blessing. Seeing my cousins Rachel & Overton join the church yesterday was incredible and taking a few photos of The Taylor’s all dressed up in their Sunday best (all dressed up a suit & tie! cue the Justin Timberlake). I haven’t had the chance to photograph them since their wedding over 4 years ago!

Getting punked. I love a good prank and boy did I get punked royally. First off, it happened yesterday instead of today so I wasn’t quite expecting it. It started with a strange out of state number on my phone around 11pm last night. I didn’t answer it because I thought it was a crazy telemarketer, but then I immediately received a text from the same number asking about my car for sale. In Spanish. Right then & there I knew something was up but before I could even think straight my phone started BLOWING UP with calls and texts. My voicemail was full within an hour. All in Spanish. And just for the record, no habla espanol. It was quite epic. So much in fact that I’m just going to forego pulling any pranks myself today because they would just pale in comparison and it will be very expected. Good one my friend. Good one. Now this means WAR…

The fake ad on Craigslist and a snippet of my response to the culprit… take note that the ad says that “I need something bigger for all my small children” and “no calls after 9pm”-I got the first call at 11pm.

A few weeks ago I attended Katelyn James Workshop Experience (more on that later!) which involved the cutest valentine styled photo shoot for us to practice our posing & technical skills. The gorgeous models were none other than Tori of Marvelous Things Photography & her hubby.

Be My Valentine

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day! I had actually been dreading this Valentines day for a few months now, as it is my first as a single girl in a long time. And the funny thing is that I never really cared for it when I was in a relationship, I thought it was just a silly commercial day to sell candy and expensive flowers. But this year, the thought of a day of love, flowers, chocolate & jewelry sent to your honey seemed very different to me. BUT, I should have never doubted that it would be amazing because I have the MOST AMAZING friends who gifted me some of the sweetest thoughts ever! I mean seriously the best gifts I have ever gotten from a Valentine. I don’t know what I would ever do without my girls. One of my favorites is the book Eat.Pray.Love. I looooved the movie but have never read the book (possibly for fear it would inspire my gypsy soul to take off on an adventure I also decided that I was going to tell all of the ladies in my life just how beautiful and loved they are – because I realized that while some people hear “i love you” daily, others may not hear it for weeks, months or even years. And I wanted my girls to know just how much I love them everyday! xoxo

One of my valentines said in the words of Carrie Bradshaw – “What if our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people we have fun with?”. And my favorite “Taken, Single, * Reserved for Channing Tatum”

Pursuit 31 Styled Shoot | Charlottesville Photographer

This past weekend I got to hang out with some pretty cool ladies at a Pursuit 31 styled shoot, hosted by Daane Studios at Beth’s new studio! It was so incredible not only to be apart of the styled shoot but to hang out with fabulous group. They came from near & far, many traveled from out of state just for a fun play date and chat. What’s even more exciting is the Pursuit 31 community of female photographers who all have not only photography in common, but a love for the Lord, their families and are all in pursuit of being a Proverbs 31 woman. The community is so encouraging & uplifting – I love how we can talk about photography, life, faith & everything in between, lifting up prayers for each others businesses and personal lives. I just signed up for the P31 conference in Georgia this fall and I simply cannot wait to spend time with the P31 ladies from around the country!

The Light That Shines

I watched this video by Sue Bryce yesterday entitled “The Light That Shines”. and balled my eyes out. I mean, big huge ugly cry with wailing and snot flying everywhere. I cried not only for the beautiful story of Jill which was so elegantly told, but for Sue’s heart, for the awareness it raises for cancer, self-confidence, and body image. I cried for the women are pressured by society’s vision, who let others words & perceptions define them, who feel like they are anything less than amazing. As of last night it was closing in on almost 50,000 views in 24 hours – what a powerful testament! You can read more about the documentary on Sue’s blog.

This inspiring story proves that life is 90 percent what happens to you and 10 percent how you react to it. Life happens. We are not in control of anything other than our reaction. Your circumstances and how people have treated you do not define you. Your scars, both physical & emotional, can be transformed into a thing of beauty – a beauty mark, with faith, time and a simple change of perception. Our scars become part of our stories. When trouble comes, always remember God is still there, He’s working, and He has a plan for you.

THIS is why I am a photographer. THIS is why I am a believer. THIS is why I want to show women everywhere how amazingly beautiful they really are.

Favorite Things: Stackable organic wedding rings

It never fails, whenever I see a set of stackable rings I Pin it. I love stacking rings, whether they match or not! And I just LOVE the idea of stackable wedding bands, starting with the engagement ring and building up with the wedding band, anniversary band, celebration band… there is a band for every occasion!
